The actresses who played the iconic duo recently spent time together off-screen. Rita Simons found her former co-star while visiting Liverpool. Rita had attended the play Dear England to watch Samantha Womack perform. She captioned the post with the hashtag “#r&r.” It’s a nod to their character’s name.
Also, Rita called Samantha “absolutely incredible” in her latest stage role. And fans of the BBC soap commented on the duo’s reunion. One user said, “Please do an R&R podcast!! EastEnders hasnt been the same without this duo.”

Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell saw their end during the iconic, controversial double death on New Year’s Day back in 2017. The sisters died hours after Ronnie’s second wedding to Jack Branning. After celebrating, the two sisters shared a bottle of champagne. They even remembered their decade in Walford on a hotel rooftop.
Finding the hotel’s closed swimming pool, a drunk ROxy jumped in. And she suffered a cardiac arrest when she hit the cold water. Later, even Ronnie jumped in to save her, wearing a heavy wedding dress. But it became waterlogged. Next, she was weighed down and couldn’t reach the surface.
The next morning, their bodies were found. Despite their deaths, fans still wish to see them back in Walford. Even some fans on Reddit shared their thoughts after Rita posted the picture with Samantha. Someone commented, “They didn’t run their course as characters. Could easily have written them off for a couple of years and brought them back.”
