The Mitchells are entering their most dramatic week in EastEnders so far, with secrets that have long been buried coming to the fore and loyalties hanging by a thread. Just as one of the characters must confront justice, another takes a desperate gamble that could prove disastrous for the whole family.
A Secret Past Returns and the Truth Comes Out
Nicola Mitchell’s masterfully constructed web of deceit starts to fall apart next week. Since Zack Hudson found out earlier this year that he, not Teddy, is Barney’s actual dad, Nicola went to great lengths to silence him, including threatening Whitney Dean and their baby daughter Dolly.
She more recently dropped a bombshell confession on her son Harry that she had murdered his girlfriend Shireen, who had gone missing four years previously.
What the Mitchells are currently unaware of is that Shireen had uncovered the truth about Barney’s parentage and it was what caused her to be murdered.
Seeking to shield Whitney, Dolly, and Barney, Zack turned to Ravi Gulati for assistance. But Ravi provided a haunting revelation, Nicola had requested his assistance in moving a corpse. This led Zack to reveal all to Linda Carter, and she urged him to contact the police. After telling DC Powers what he knew, the evidence was enough to lead Nicola into arrest, finally revealing her crimes to the rest of Walford.
Nicola’s Arrest Sets Off a Chain Reaction in EastEnders
Nicola is led away in handcuffs in dramatic scenes as shocked residents gawk. But even as she’s off the scene, the repercussions run on.
Zack takes the opportunity to inform Harry of the truth—that he is the actual father of Barney—and expects Harry to get behind his mother plan of escaping with the teenager to safety. But the situation goes into a dramatic spin when Nicola is released unexpectedly.
While in Walford, Nicola struggles to discredit Zack’s accusations. However, when confronted by Teddy, she ultimately confirms that he is not Barney’s father. Tempers flare, and Harry, distraught at the news, reveals Zack’s flight plan.
Instead of assisting, Harry resorts to extreme measures. He kidnaps Zack by pushing him into a car boot and takes off, leaving the rest of the family bewildered.
A Race Against Time Ends in Disaster
Desperate to catch his son, Teddy intercepts Billy, Honey, and Billy’s friend Nigel Bates on the way to the pictures. He pleads with them to help chase Harry off before things get any worse.
But just as things seem to be within reach, disaster strikes. One of the vehicles drives off the road and into a cold lake, making the wild pursuit a matter of life and death.
