Phil’s Care Becomes a Lifeline In EastEnders
After Nigel returned to Albert Square last Christmas, he has been living with Phil Mitchell. Phil has taken Nigel’s full responsibility. He tries his best to keep him safe and secure. Not just this, he has also been taking care of him financially.
Phil looks after Nigel day and night. At Phil’s house, Nigel feels safe and free to be himself. However, Nigel’s dementia is becoming worse with time. He is not able to remember things. And sometimes he doesn’t even remember minute details. Also, people around him are being affected because of his illness.
In the beginning, Phil managed all these things alone. But later Julie stepped in to help him and look after Nigel. Julie is also a teacher at Walford High. And so she has that patience and stability to understand Nigel and his concerns. Julie wanted to reduce the burden on Phil’s shoulders. Elsewhere, she also wanted to support Nigel with his everyday routine.
A Shocking Turn On The Road
Nigel sold his car to surprise Julie with a trip to India and took one last drive before parting with it. However, his sweet memory soon turned bitter. Nigel got distracted by Julie’s phone call and crashed his car. He ended up hitting Gina Knight and Jasmine Fisher.
Jasmine, however, tried to save Gina, but unfortunately, became a victim, and both girls went down. In contrast, rather than calling for an ambulance, Nigel called Julie. However, when Julie rushed to the place, she was happy to see that Nigel was okay. Julie ran to him and was glad he was fine. After the accident, Nigel started getting worse. He told her he didn’t have the strength to leave Walford or make the trip to India.
Phil’s dedication and Julie’s steady presence provide a lifeline. And it is helping Nigel cope with an increasingly unpredictable life.
