Clare Bates Returns To Walford
Nigel Bates is already dating with serious health concerns. And Clare returns to something she wasn’t prepared for. However, she storms in anger, convinced that Julie only got in touch at the very last minute to prove a point. In her mind, the daughter thinks that she was denied the opportunity to apologise to her father.
Actress Gemme Bissix is returning as Clare after a long break. She mentions how heartbreaking the moment is for her character. And especially because Clare has stayed away from both Nigel and his wife Julie for several years. Elsewhere, Julie and Phil are also unsure of handling Nigel’s request to see Clare.
It’s because the care home place is coming up as soon as he leaves the hospital. On one side, Julie is worried that Clare turning up could unsettle him. On the other side, Clare has no idea how unwell Nigel really is. Even though Phil pushes Julie to make the call, it is Lexi who changes her view. And this leads Julie finally reach out. However, the moment Clare arrives, the two begin clashing all over again.
Soon Phil steps in to remind both women they need to stay calm for Nigel’s sake. Later, they agree to focus on him and head to the hospital. However, the moment they arrive, Clare is left shaken as her step-dad fails to recognise her. Gemma says that Clare never realised how advanced the dementia had become. She feels like she is losing a parent all over again. By the same token, the estranged daughter senses that she may not have another opportunity to make amends.
