Penny Branning is preparing for the baby scan with Vinny Panesa. However, Vinny rushes off for a work call. In spite of creating a fuss, Penny goes to the hospital alone. But when Priya learns what Vinny did, she scolds him for his priorities. However, she is unaware that he has been trying to secure funding for the shop he bought for Penny.
Later, the sonographer begins the scan without him. That’s when Penny hears the unexpected news. She learns that she is further along in her pregnancy. Also, even the dates do not make sense. Leaving the room confused, Penny is unsure if she mixed up the timeline or if something else happened.
When Vinny joins her later, she hides the truth. As soon as she gets time, she confides in Lauren and Oscar. If her baby was conceived before New Year’s then it lines up with her night with Harry Mitchell, not Vinny. Meanwhile, Harry talks to Nicola about his situation with Gina. He informs her that Gina does not want children. Later, he spills the beans that he had a one-off with Penny late last year. It happened before Penny moved on with Vinny. Listening to everything, Nicola picks up every detail.
Earlier in the day, she also noticed Penny behaving strangely. Hence, she confronts her directly. She tells her that she knows about the Harry hook-up thing. Delivering a threat to Penny, she tells her to either take a DNA test or she will reveal everything. Realising her decision is not in her hands anymore, she freezes.
