EastEnders revisited the much-loved Sam Mitchell story after leaving Walford for Spain was no longer part of the plan. Sam is having a chat with Ricky and Lily Slater about the decision whilst she is helping Lily go to visit Martin Fowler’s grave.
The character also thinks about finishing breast cancer treatment at home instead of going away. This rewrite retains Sam on the Square for family support and new storylines. Continue reading to find out more.
Sam Joins Lily At The Grave In EastEnders
In tonight’s episode, Sam talks with Ricky and Lily about leaving Walford. However, a misunderstanding arises when Sam thinks Lily’s sadness is about her departure. But soon she apologises after realising that she is sad about Martin Fowler’s death anniversary. The Mitchell woman added, “Oh, Lily, I’m so sorry,” recognising the mix-up. “You poor thing, she adds, mentioning Stacey’s absence.
Lily then admits that she can not visit the grave alone. So Sam offers to go with her to buy flowers for Martin. “Look, your dad was kind to me on more than one occasion. Probably cause he fancied me a little bit, she said.” Later, the two visited the grave and showed their respect. Afterwards, Lily thanks Sam for joining her. The teenager adds, “Thanks for coming with me today.”
Later, the pair discuss about Stacey’s absence and Sam’s cancer treatment. Lily urges Sam to stay for radiotherapy, saying, “Ricky’s really gonna miss you. So am I.” Despite her request, Sam initially plans to continue with her Spain trip.
Sam Decided To Stay In Walford
Soon, Sam breaks down in tears while saying goodbye to Ricky. She admitted saying, “This feels wrong. I don’t wanna go.” Later, Ricky encourages calling the hospital in Spain and moving the treatment locally. The cancer patient was surrounded by Lily, Jack, Zack and Denise. And soon she decided that she would stay in Walford.
The Mitchell woman’s short return in December has now been extended. This will allow her to stay with her family and continue her cancer treatment. Also, by her staying back, it can be assumed that she might run into Grant Mitchell. Ross Kemp, the actor playing Grant, is ready to come back to the soap after the 40th anniversary.
