EastEnders is about to explode once again. Christmas won’t be calm this year as Sam Mitchell walks back into the Square. She never enters quietly, and this time her return ties right into Zoe Slater’s comeback. Two faces with a dark past will finally come face to face, and nothing in Albert Square will be the same after that. Keep scrolling to learn more.
Sam Mitchell Returns To Shake Things Up
Kim Medcalf is once again stepping back into Sam Mitchell’s shoes. And her return is connected to none other than her rival Zoe Slater. Both had troubled pasts, tied in some way to Dirty Den Watts’ death in 2005. Kat and Sam began as friends but eventually became enemies.
However, now, after so many years, the two will face each other again. One source revealed that things have changed in Walford after Sam’s arrival. The two enemies haven’t met or seen each other for over twenty years. The source said, “Only time will tell if they can let go of the past or if Sam has another motive.”
Even Michelle Ryan had returned to Walford earlier as Zoe. And since her arrival, things have already shaken up. She made sure her presence was felt with every storyline. Currently, she is busy searching for her child whom she had given for adoption. And now with Sam’s return, the two will have to face their painful past again. Kim said, “It’s such a joy to return, especially at Christmas. Sam always brings drama, but she also has that vulnerable side, too.”
The Shadow Of Den Watts Still Looms In EastEnders
Sam has a history of secrets. However, her most intense storyline was of Den Watts’s death. In 2005, the show marked 20 years with Zoe, Sam, and Chrissie trapped in lies. It all began when Den manipulated Zoe. He used her as part of his twisted blackmail scheme. Not just this, he even played mind games with Sam because he wanted to get revenge on her brother Phil.
Later, in the Queen Vic, Den turned violent. Elsewhere, to protect herself, Zoe struck him with a heavy object. She believed Den had died, and so Zoe left. However, soon Den regained consciousness, but his wife Chrissie did the job that Zoe had left incomplete.
However, she framed Sam for the murder and was arrested. After months, the truth was out that Chrissie was the real killer. Executive producer Ben Wadey spoke about Sam’s return and said, “It’s no secret that wherever Sam goes, drama inevitably follows.
With Zoe back in The Square, only time will tell if there’s room for forgiveness or another fight ahead.” Will Sam and Zoe bury their past and move forward? For more EastEnders spoilers and updates, keep following Soap Opera Daily.
