EastEnders’ Samantha Womack has finally spoken about her unexpected Walford exit, and her statements are like an open book, revealing just how painful it was. Keep scrolling to learn more.
Ronnie’s Exit Made Samantha Feel Rejected And Heartbroken
Womack, who created Ronnie Mitchell, did not opt out of the soap. Along with Rita Simons, who played Roxy, she exited the soap in a dramatic New Year’s Day show in 2017.
The plot made her on-screen wedding day a tragedy when Roxy died of a heart attack brought on by cocaine and drowned. Ronnie passed away shortly after attempting to rescue her sister.
Appearing on MailOnline, Womack admitted the choice was like a grief she never expected. “It was not in our hands,” she explained. “It felt like sorrow, like losing a member of the family.”
The hardest aspect? The feeling of being pushed out of a place she adored. “Rita and I loved feeling like we belonged there, and to be rejected hit us both so much,” she explained.
EastEnders Fans, A Comeback Could Happen, But There’s A Catch
Despite the heartbreak, Womack has found a new life in Valencia, something that may not have happened if Ronnie had stayed alive.
Now, as talk stirs of a potential Ronnie and Roxy return, especially with Simon’s leaving Hollyoaks, Womack is feeling the fan love. “They still go loopy at the idea,” she said.
However, she is a realist. “I do not know how we would come back. Maybe they could say we did, she posed. She is not closing the door on it either. “Never say never,” Womack said.
Despite their reluctant feelings about long shooting days, she still has affection for the cast and the show. “I miss everyone there. It felt silly; it felt fun. We were controversial; we were naughty.” For more EastEnders spoilers and updates, follow Soap Opera Daily.
