Zoe Slater returned in the latest episode after two decades. She came for a special week of episodes. Her life hasn’t been easy as she is staying in a flat rented by Stacey Slater. Furthermore, she has to rely on alcohol and vaping to cope with the situation. Stacey got concerned for Zoe, so she called Alfie Moon. She hoped that she would open up to her stepfather. The soap hasn’t disclosed much about the character during the twenty-year absence.
She has been estranged from her mother, Kat and has spent years living in Ibiza. However, soap fans suspect that she has a family who live in Albert Square. One of the fans wrote on Twitter that they think that Zoe Slater is Joel Marshall’s mother. Soap viewers know that Joel arrived earlier this year from Australia with his father, Ross. Joel committed a sex offence at school, and due to that, he had to come back to London with Vicki Fowler.

In the recent episodes, he also assaulted a passenger on the underground. He also opened up to Tommy about his mother, sharing that she abandoned him as a child, calling her a slapper.
Meanwhile, the soap enthusiasts have been suspecting the relationship between Zoe and Joel. They think that Zoe is connected to Joel, and she might be his mother. One of the fans wrote that Zoe being Joel’s mother will be a classic soap drama, calling it Slater magic with Kat as his grandmother and Tommy as his uncle.
