EastEnders viewers, a cheerful tradition meant to bring the Mitchells together only pulls them further apart. In an emotionally charged week, Nicola’s move to heal her family with Half Christmas does not take long to go wrong. Scroll down to find out more.
EastEnders turns festive as the Mitchells break down
Nicola Mitchell celebrated the welcome back of an old family tradition, Half Christmas. On June twenty-fifth, she decorated the home, pulled out the Christmas tree, and blasted Michael Bublé in hopes of bringing some harmony.
But the eldest son, Harry, didn’t buy it. To him, the celebration was a cover-up.
The family was only beginning to repair itself from months of psychological hurt. Nicola had recently confessed to murdering Harry’s former girlfriend, Shireen, who was pregnant with his baby. Then came the real shock that Barney wasn’t Teddy’s son but Zack Hudson’s.
Overwhelmed, Harry kidnapped Barney. Panicked, Teddy chased them off. Things got dangerous when Teddy and Zack’s car skidded into icy water. Zack was presumed dead but reappeared hours later to be rejected by Barney.
Nicola wished the family could move on. A quiet board game moment brought some laughter, but Harry could not let things go.
Nicola’s holiday plan backfires as family secrets erupt
Harry reminded Barney that Half Christmas only existed because Nicola had ruined the real one.
Later, Harry ran into Zack at McKlunkys and invited him to lunch, telling him Barney wanted him there. Zack hesitated but said okay, hoping to connect with his son.
At home, Teddy assisted Nicola in decorating. For a moment, everything was easier. But when Nicola misunderstood the moment and attempted to approach closer, Teddy moved away.
He referred to her as a nasty toxic wreck and indicated he regretted meeting her. Out of sight of them, Barney stood around, surprised, while Nicola imploded the tree in anger. For additional EastEnders spoilers and updates, follow Soap Opera Daily.
