Nigel Struggles As Phil Hits Breaking Point
Phil Mitchell has been caring for Nigel Bates for months. But their deal begins to break down this week. It starts when Nigel forgets that his wife Debbie has passed away and strolls barefoot into the Square.
Later, he accidentally spills hot water and burns Phil’s arm. Kat realises Phil is struggling and encourages him to seek assistance. She also asks where Nigel’s estranged wife, Julie, has vanished.
Phil admits he needs Nigel as much as anyone. He acknowledges he does not wish to be alone again. But things keep getting worse. Nigel begins to get Debbie mixed up with Julie before forgetting Lexi altogether.
Desperate, Phil loses his temper when Nigel accidentally knocks a picture of Peggy Mitchell off the wall. Kat intervenes once more in the hope that things can improve.
EastEnders’ Kat Calls on Phil to Make a Crucial Decision
Later, Lexi turns up and sits down with Nigel to do her homework. When she explains to him about having lost her mum, Lola, Nigel becomes tearful. He compares her experience to Debbie’s and shows her old family photographs.
Torn, Nigel runs out and breaks down. Lexi follows him to the garden bench. Nigel becomes confused and mistakes her for Clare, sharing the story of Debbie’s death in 1995.
Phil and Kat look on in horror. They soon step in and interrupt the argument. Kat warns Phil that if he does not act quickly, his mental health could suffer.
Phil has to phone Julie before things escalate further. But will he listen to Kat? For more EastEnders news and gossip, follow Soap Opera Daily!
