Colin Salmon Opens Up On The Change!
EastEnders actor Colin Salmon has said that the show is in a strong position as a new Executive producer is taking over the show. Last year in September, it was announced that the Executive producer, Chris Clenshaw, is leaving the soap after three years. The final episode will air on Friday. The show’s former story editor, Ben Wadey, will replace him. Chris Clenshaw has created wonderful storylines, including the return of Cindy Beale, the award-winning plot of Lola. Lola Pearce died of a brain tumour.
Chris also included the Knight Family’s storyline and created a history by introducing a black and mixed heritage family to run a pub, The Queen Vic. Colin Salmon, who is the head of the Knights, said that Ben is taking over when the show is grabbing the spotlight. He shared that he has always been a fan of the show. The storylines are great, and they work hard. He added that the storylines are like they will deal with it, but then everything gets piled up just like in real life. The actor shared that they are in a good place in the show, and it is fantastic for them.
Ben Shares His Excitement!
Meanwhile, Colin Salmon’s on-screen wife, Harriet Thorpe, praised Ben, calling him wonderful, creative and collaborative. Elsewhere, the show has a diverse cast, but it will focus more on the younger actors. Colin added that it was nice for young, talented actors to come forward. Meanwhile, Ben is returning from Channel 4, where he was a Commissioning Executive. He supervised Hollyoaks and Generation Z.
Ben originally worked as EastEnders’ story Editor and also worked on a special episode involving Linda, who was suffering from alcoholism. Ben shared his excitement and said he had grown up watching and loving the show. It also sparked his love for television. So, it is a privilege to work for the soap.
