The former EastEnders star, who left fans heartbroken after Mick Carter’s dramatic disappearance in 2022, has slammed the brakes on any chance of a return to Albert Square. EastEnders Mick Carter Will Not Return!
EastEnders legend Danny Dyer, who portrayed the role of Mick Carter, has revealed why he won’t be coming back to the soap opera. Long-time viewers know the fan-favorite character was last seen in Walford two years ago while he was trying to save Linda. Unfortunately, he vanished into the sea and has now been presumed dead. Even though there have been several opportunities to bring Mick back, it might not happen anytime soon.
In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, Dyer revealed how he had envisioned Mick’s departure playing out in a different way. The soap star wanted to do a suicide storyline which will put emphasis on men’s mental health. He said, “No one really lies about being depressed; they lie about being happy. I’ve known a few people that have [died by] suicide – men who I knew well, and I didn’t have a clue.”
He wanted the soap bosses to do something along these lines because it would have changed the whole soap world. He continued, “They [the producers] to-and-fro’d with it. I begged them. I was like: ‘Please, if we do it right, we don’t have to see it. But the build-up to it, I think it’s f**king important’. [But] they didn’t do it.” Dyer also admitted this is the reason why he will not be returning to the BBC soap as of now.

The actor will soon be seen in Marching Powder and spoke about coming back as Mick. He said if an ideal storyline comes up for the soap’s 40th-anniversary episode, he would definitely like to join.
