Jamie Borthwick made an offensive remark while filming for Strictly Come Dancing in Blackpool last November. The camera caught him at the famous Tower Ballroom while commenting on the people of Blackpool. Paul Gallery, who is Blackpool Council’s Tory group leader, criticised it, calling it shocking and horrible. When he passed the comment, his co-star, Wynne Evans, said Oh my God.
BBC shared with Metro that such kind of language was unacceptable as it doesn’t match the standards. There are strict procedures to handle such matters. Earlier, the soap opera put his character, Jay Brown, on hold, but now they have axed him. His comeback is dubious. Jamie shared that he wanted to apologise for the derogatory term he used in the video at Blackpool. He was sorry for the hurt he caused with his words. He added that he didn’t understand the meaning of the term, and it was his mistake. Jamie shared that when he made the video, he was caught up in the moment and didn’t realise his fault.
The actor shared that he enjoyed his time in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. He further appreciated the people of the town and the Strictly Come Dancing crew and cast members. This led to the removal of the opera singer from the tour. He was also accused of making sexual comments, and BBC Radio Wales didn’t renew his contract.
