EastEnders Star Opens Up About Her Gig On The Show
Actress Kirsty Curtis, who is better known for playing Keeley Wainwright on the BBC One soap, recently opened up about her time on the show. The actress took to her Instagram and thanked all her fellow cast members and the whole team of EastEnders.
Regular viewers know that Kirsty’s character, Keeley, made her debut on the show when Whitney went to Milton Keynes. She was the birthmother of Britney, and Whitney offered money to keep Britney from her. Furthermore, this storyline also led to Whitney’s exit from the show after 16 years.
Even though Kirsty’s time on the show was brief, it left a huge impact on everyone. The actress recently took to Instagram and expressed her heartfelt gratitude. She posted a carousel of pictures, which included scenes of her appearing alongside Patsy Palmer and James Farrar.
In the caption, she wrote, ‘I took on Keeley at a really dark time of my life; I didn’t even know if I was capable at that moment in time to do the job. Playing you was heartbreaking, emotional & truly painful, but such a release. She helped me get through my struggle, without you I’m not sure where I would be today.’
Furthermore, she thanked EastEnders’s big boss, Chris Clenshaw, for trusting her with the role and said the job ‘saved’ her. She added, ‘I feel so privileged to have been a part of the soap I grew up watching. Always dreamed of being there. I’ve never felt so at home in all my life. Waited such a long time to be a part of this show, and all though it was short and sweet it was well worth the wait.’
Curtis also thanked co-stars Patsy and Shona and had a special note for her on-screen daughter, Britney, played by Lola Campbell. She says that she’s been in ‘denial’ since leaving the show and cannot believe it’s over.
The actress signed off by dropping hints that she might return one day. So, keep an eye on Soap Opera Daily to check if Keeley will come back or not. In the meantime, tell us in the comments if you would like Kirsty to return to EastEnders.
