Ex-EastEnders Star has spoken out about his co-star Jamie Borthwick joining Strictly Come Dancing. Jamie Borthwick has been revealed as the tenth celebrity to join the line-up for the dancing show’s 20th anniversary series.
The BBC soap actor, who is best known as Jay on the series, said it was an ‘easy yes’ to return to the dance floor. And now, his colleague and friend, Max Bowden, who played Ben’s role until March on the soap opera, has revealed how Jamie will be on the dancing show.
While speaking on Good Morning Britain, Max said, “I spoke to him about eight minutes ago, he’s nervous but he’s very excited. He’s a good mover – he dances all the time. He’s a music fanatic, as soon as he hears a song he breaks into routine. I’m very proud of him.”
Jamie, who became a household name as Jay, took part in Strictly’s Christmas special last year. The score 40 that he received in the special episode tells us how good of a dancer he might be.
Jamie also spoke about his decision to join the show and said that this is a fresh challenge and it will be nice to learn new dance forms every week. Borthwick added, “I’m hoping to be Salsa-ing around Albert Square in no time, and I’ll be asking my Walford Strictly alumni for some words of wisdom. See you on the dancefloor!” It seems like Jamie took advice from his co-star Max over the same, and we are all excited to see him.

As for Max’s stint on EastEnders, he is known to be playing the role of Ben Mitchell. Bowden’s character is currently imprisoned in the US for credit card fraud charges, and his on-screen husband is vulnerable without him. Fans are also eagerly waiting for his explosive comeback on the BBC programme.
While discussing his exit recently, Max said, “I did nearly six hundred episodes in five years, which is a hell of a lot, and it was time for a rest.” We really wish to see the actor back in action since he is a fan favourite character.
