EastEnders’ Michelle Collins Makes Edinburgh Fringe Debut
Michelle is travelling to the top Edinburgh Fringe Festival to star in Motorhome Marilyn, her very first solo stage show. It is a part that has been five years in development, and now, she claims, the time is finally right.
Michelle plays Marilyn Monroe imposter Denise, who lives in a small caravan in Las Vegas, in this gloomy comedy. Denise once sought Hollywood stardom but ended up living alone, clinging to an unmet ambition. Throughout the play, her sad history comes into perspective.
“Surely there are similarities between Denise and Cindy,” Michelle revealed. “Denise is a little more vulnerable and better liked. Both of them have had large ambitions, been abandoned, and won’t quit.”
Cindy Beale May Be Tough, But Michelle’s New Job Reveals A Softer Side
Viewers might be used to seeing Cindy causing drama in Walford, but Denise brings out a much different aspect of Michelle. Both women have survived challenging lives, but Denise approaches suffering with candour and a sense of melancholy.
Michelle stated that she is glad to be a 60-year-old woman who continues to take chances and grasp new opportunities when reflecting on her path. “I still feel like an ambitious young girl… I think I am happier than ever.” Follow Soap Opera Daily for more EastEnders updates and spoilers.
