EastEnders icon Samantha Womack opens up about life with Emmerdale’s newest villain. And fans? They’ve got plenty to say. Keep scrolling to find out what happens when soaps and real life collide.
EastEnders: Samantha Womack Gets Warnings About Her Partner Oliver
It’s been years since Samantha stepped away from Walford. But to fans, she will always be Ronnie Mitchell. And now, they have turned their attention to her real-life partner. She is dating actor Oliver Farnworth, whom she met in 2019 while working on a stage play, The Girl on the Train, and things clicked.
But here is the thing: Oliver’s not exactly playing the nice guy on TV these days. On Emmerdale, he is John Sugden. And John’s got blood on his hands. This year alone, he has buried Anthony Fox and was revealed as Nate Robinson’s killer.
So when fans run into Sam, they do not hold back. “I do get warned about him,” she admitted.
Soap Drama Stays On Screen
Despite everything going on in the show, Oliver refuses to give spoilers. Not even at home. “He is like, ‘Nope, can’t tell you,’” Sam said. “I will ask him, but he stays quiet. It is actually kind of annoying.”
She gets it, though. Secrets are part of the job. Sam visited the Emmerdale set recently and could not believe how different it was from Albert Square.
“There are hills. Cottages. It is peaceful,” she said. “Nothing like the East End.”
The pair get recognised everywhere they go, but who gets noticed depends on the postcode. Up north, it’s all about Oliver.
Before his Emmerdale run, Oliver played Andy Carver on Coronation Street. Fans thought Andy was dead until the shocking twist revealed he was trapped in a basement all along. Later, he was killed off in one of the show’s darkest turns. So yeah, people say things when they see Sam out and about. But after all this time in soaps, she knows how to handle it.
