EastEnders beloved star Shona McGarty might soon make us all the happiest as she makes her bombshell return in Walford. The actress, who has been a regular on the BBC soap since 2008, has spoken out about coming back to celebrate the show’s 40th milestone next February. Regular viewers know that the soap legend departed from the show this year in May with her baby, Dolly, and foster teen, Britney.
Her final scenes were aired with Whitney making peace with Lauren Branning to start afresh leaving unfaithful Zack Hudson. McGarty recently spoke to The Sun and opened up about her potential return to the soap – but it might not be anytime soon. She said, “I would absolutely go back to EastEnders – it’s 16 years of creating a family, I grew up on that show. I’ve got a really good relationship with EastEnders; the doors open, but at the moment, not yet.”

We know that the BBC programme is approaching its 40th anniversary and one of the biggest ongoing storylines is about Bianca trying to take killer Reiss down for smothering his wife and framing Sonia for it. When asked if she would like to return for the anniversary related to Bianca’s storyline, the actress said ‘wouldn’t say no’ to the opportunity. Shona also noted that she would do anything to celebrate EastEnders.
While speaking of the Reiss and Bianca narrative, she said, “I feel as Whitney I should go and rescue [Bianca]. Whitney would get her out.” That would be so exciting to see, and we’d all love to see her back! As of now, the talented actress is focusing on theatre and recently starred in the popular show 2.22 Ghost Story after leaving the soap.
