It looks like EastEnders is preparing for yet another strong Christmas storyline, which will see a legendary character’s battle with mental health. One of the most beloved Walford resident, Phil Mitchell will deal with depression and suicidal thoughts during the festive season of the BBC programme. Regular viewers know that Phil’s world has been turned upside down ever since he was abandoned by his family.
We know that the character’s son, Ben, is in prison in the US, and his daughter lives in Portugal. We saw him having a fallout with his dearest family over his radical opinions of Stevie Mitchell. Along with Billy, the hardman has also pushed away other Walford residents who care about him. Former wives, Sharon and Kat also tried reaching out to him recently but he refused to talk to them.

The hot-headed Mitchell patriarch continued to burn bridges with Denise Fox when he snapped at his son Raymond. This was the last straw for Denise, who then decided to move out and stay with Yolande for a while. And this time Phil will be all alone and it might coincide with the soap’s 40th anniversary. This depression narrative comes after Phil overcoming his fight with cocaine and alcohol addiction in previous years.
Furthermore, there have been rumors about a key character being killed off during Christmas, and it can definitely be Phil due to his mental health struggles.
