EastEnders fans are arguing the most significant writing errors in the history of the show. Many viewers think that killing long-standing characters like Denny Rickman was an enormous mistake.

Fans Think Killing Denny Rickman Was The Biggest Mistake In EastEnders
Denny Rickman was the son of Sharon Watts and Dennis Rickman. The character died during the show’s 35th anniversary week. Denny had developed a nasty streak. Later, he even targeted Bobby Beale with online Islamophobic abuse. Due to this, a group of thugs attacked Bobby and left him fighting for his life.
However, Ian Beale found out that Sharon’s son was the troll. And so he confronted the troubled teen on the party boat. But Denny showed no remorse. This triggered Ian, who punched him and locked him in a room in the lower decks of the boat as a lesson. Later, the boat crashed into a pier on the River Thames due to a struggle between Phil and Keanu Taylor.
Later, Ian came back to rescue Denny. But he accidentally dropped the keys in the water. After that, he broke the door with a fire extinguisher and helped Denny get out. But soon, Ian lost hold of Denny in this. And Denny was dragged into the water, where he drowned. Paramedics couldn’t bring him back to life even on the shore. And Denny passed away because of a heart attack caused by drowning.
What Fans Are Saying On Reddit
One person commented that, “Denny was so very talented; with time, we might have even seen him become a lead in the show’s storylines.” Another person commented that the killing off Denny robbed Sharon’s storyline of an important element. People also identified several characters who should have been given better story arcs.
One wrote, “I never really got the narrative.I thought Daren appeared way too young and the whole scenario felt off to me from the very beginning.” Another one commented, “That was the time when, watching it, I thought the show had taken the drama too far.It hardly ever seemed to be real.” Many perfectly understood that it was a huge let down to explore Kat’s past stories.
One explained, “Kat’s storyline was really strong on its own. Introducing a secret twin at the end just totally made the story point that had been made, feel like going over the top.” Even some characters’ death were re, counted. One person said, “Abi had so much potential to become a main character. Killing her off felt like a discarded opportunity.”
One user wrote, “Abi might have become a very deep character in the Square if things had gone well for her”. On the other hand, some people were unhappy with the Grey Atkins plot. For more EastEnders spoilers and updates, keep following Soap Opera Daily.
