EastEnders fans know Joel Marshall is all trouble on screen. But off-screen? Max Murray’s real life could not be more different. Keep scrolling to learn more.
EastEnders’ Max Murray Is Nothing Like Joel
He joined the show in March, and it did not take long for Max Murray to stir chaos in Walford. As Joel, he secretly filmed himself with Avani and led Tommy Moon into dangerous territory.
Then came the reveal: his past in Australia involved serious crime, and his family had to flee.
And just when viewers thought it could not get worse, Joel faked a fall on the tube to grope a stranger. But Ravi Gulati found out and locked him in a walk-in fridge. It was a moment fans had waited for. On screen, Joel is dark and disturbing.
Young Star Is Bright Music Star
Away from Albert Square, Max fronts a band with his brother Joe and keyboardist Robert Dallas. Together, they perform as The Murray Brotherz. Their first single, Dear Amy, dropped on July 23, the anniversary of Amy Winehouse’s passing. The track is a tribute to the late singer. Tapster Studios produced it, and the intro calls back to Back to Black.
Joe wrote the lyrics. They explore addiction, grief, and how Amy’s music still connects. In the video, Max sparred in a boxing ring, then sat alone on a bench with a ghostly Amy lookalike beside him.
Fans were surprised. One called him a future triple threat. Another said he had the voice for a real music career. His mum, former soap and stage actress Gina Murray, shared her pride online and praised how her sons honoured Amy’s legacy. Max may be new to the soap, but between Joel’s chaos and his creative path, he is already making a name for himself. For more EastEnders spoilers and updates, follow Soap Opera Daily.
