Emily Symons will never be back on Emmerdale. She played Louise Appleton for years, had countless wild storylines, and became the Woolpack landlady. Fans still remember her antics, but Emily says she’s done with the village. Home and Away, family, and life in Australia have taken over. What was it really like on set? Keep scrolling to find out more.
Emily’s Fond Memories On The Soap
Emily played Louise Appleton between 2001 and 2008. And now she shared her experience of stepping into the role of the Aussie barmaid with a lively love life. “Louise, my character was having a relationship with Ashley, she said.” She also laughed at many on-screen romances, saying, “I actually think she shagged quite a lot of people on that show, not me, Louise.”
And when she filmed in the Yorkshire countryside, Emily enjoyed it even beyond the script. She also called the cast a “lovely family of people.” For her, the village set felt very realistic. She added, “We’d get walkers, people walking, and they’d literally think it was a real post office!. Moreover, the warmth and camaraderie made her time special on the soap. And she is left with lasting memories.

Emily also explained the difference between filming in Emmerdale and Home and Away. In the Yorkshire winter, she had the freedom to dress warmly and wear coats, gloves and hats. “But in Summer Bay, it’s supposed to always be summer, and we are allowed to wear a light cardigan. I have a cardigan if it’s freezing. We call it ‘the sad cardi,’ I think we bought it for a sad storyline, she said.”
Emily Has No Plans To Return To Emmerdale
Louise has been mentioned in current storylines. However, Emily has confirmed that the bosses have never approached her about returning. She said, “No, they haven’t.” She even ruled out any chances of her comeback. “I think I’ve done my travelling days now. But I have very fond memories, she said.”
Moreover, her life in Australia has been busy and exciting. Emily returned home after years of living in West Hollywood and Atlanta. Now, Home and Away has been filming in Western Australia for a major storyline.

Emily still vividly remembers her time with Louise Appleton, and even though she is not coming back to the ITV soap, her tales from Emmerdale still have an impact on the audience. Her thoughts make the audience recall the zeal and commitment the actors infuse into their characters. For more Emmerdale spoilers and updates, keep following Soap Opera Daily.
