The doctors informed him and Moira that they had found a mass which might be cancerous. Thus, recently, the character learned that he has localised prostate cancer. He has been frustrated and has been lashing out at many villagers.
Meanwhile, Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain, opened up about the storyline. He has addressed his character’s diagnosis and the effects of it on his marriage.
He spoke to the Mirror and said that his character is afraid to tell anyone about his health issues. Jeff added that Cain feels that everything is falling.

Furthermore, he has never found it easy to talk about his feelings. Cain is concerned that nobody will be there to look after his children. He is afraid that he is going to die.
Meanwhile, last September, Jeff found out that Cain would be in trouble after being shot by John. The soap star said that after knowing this, he was like oh, gulp. Then Laura Shaw told him that he would survive the shooting.
However, then she told Jeff about the cancer plot. Thus, he had to do a double gulp. Elsewhere, the soap star didn’t open up about the storyline. He said that his character is concerned that the side effects of his treatment might impact his relationship with Moira.
