John Sugden said he met Aidan Moore during his time in the army. He lied that Aidan died while they were serving in Afghanistan. However, when Victoria found that Aidan was alive and was in a coma at the hospital in Leeds, he said that he regretted not saving him.
John said they were in a relationship but didn’t disclose it to the others in the regiment. They continued their relationship but one day, Aidan was injured during patrol with John. He said that tried to save him but due to the lack of oxygen, he went into a coma.
He told Victoria that he tried his best to save him. John told her that his hands slipped away while saving him. Meanwhile, Aidan thought that he could have rescued him. But he could save him. So, he can’t forgive himself for this mistake. Meanwhile, soap viewers know that John has a hero complex where he tries to save others by putting them in danger and acting as a hero later.
