In another casting shake-up news, another Emmerdale legend is leaving. As per the latest news, Susan Cookson has been let go from the soap, after five years of playing Wendy Posner. Susan joined the cast back in 2019 and captivated audiences with her acting and engaging storylines.
Long-time fans would remember, Susan’s character Wendy had arrived in the town in 2019 to seek answers from Victoria Sugden. Victoria was then pregnant with Susan’s grandchild. She got pregnant after Susan’s eldest son, Lee raped her. Following that, Lee fell into a coma after Victoria’s brother Robert attacked her.
After learning all about it, Susan then started working at the local surgery and settled in the village with her partner Bob Hope. Before joining Emmerdale, Susan worked with other soaps like Casualty, Doctors, and Coronation Street. Fans and cast members love her.
A source, speaking to The Sun revealed that she is devastated by this decision. Susan loves being on the show and is heartbroken with this decision. It appears this decision to let go of the actress comes amid the budget cuts.
ITV is facing a significant financial crisis and is letting go of everyone who might not be adding enough. They no longer have funds to pay everyone. Susan’s character wasn’t inspiring many storylines to the producers and hence, they decided to let her go.
However, the door is still very much open for her return to the soap opera. Maybe, one day she wll return to meet hergrandson. For now, however, it’s a wrap for the character.
