Spirits are really high in Emmerdale fandom, as Michael Parr is making a raging comeback as Ross Barton this Christmas! However, he is not the only past character returning to the screen! Iain MacLeod, one of the soap bosses, recently revealed that another character is making their way to the village, and their arrival will really shake things up!
Iain also teases that the 2024 Christmas is going to be one of the most exciting Emmerdale Christmases ever! There is a possibility that a long lost Dingle family member could hit the road that leads back to the village. We know that Zak Dingle’s character will pass over by the end of the year. Thus, it is highly plausible that Zak’s granddaughter Debbie Dingle may return to the Dales.

It is no secret that the times ahead are going to be a bit tough for the Dingle family. Recently, Cain Dingle’s wife Moira was diagnosed with a brain tumor. So, it is possible that Debbie may decide to come to the village to support her family in troubled times. But this is not the only issue the family is facing.
Belle Dingle finally opened up about the abuse she faced in her marriage with Tom King. And, even though she has separated from him, the drama surrounding that abuse is far from over. So, it would be nice to see Debbie return home and stand in support of Belle. Even the Emmerdale fandom is thrilled by the idea of her return.
“Holding out hopes that Debbie makes a return,” a fan voiced on social media, while another pointed that, “For some odd reason I have a feeling Debbie is coming back.” So, it seems that Debbie really could be on her way back. If not, the makers should start thinking about it! Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Emmerdale updates on which other past character is coming back this Christmas.
