Robert Sugden has been absent from the soap since 2019 when he was sent to the prison after killing Lee Posner who raped Victoria Sugden. Though Aaron tried to sort out things but when Robert was transferred to the Isle of Wight, the couple decided to break up their marriage and had a divorce in 2020.
After that, the killer John Sugden arrived in the village. John and Aaron got involved in a relationship and were engaged soon. However, Aaron is unaware of John’s true personality. As their wedding day approached, John started having nightmares. However, he didn’t realise that Robert would come back to their wedding. He returned to crash Aaron and John’s wedding. Ryan Hawley Opens Up On Robert!
Ryan Hawley, who plays Robert Sugden in the soap, is back. Though it was rumoured that he would be back for a short role, the actor surprised the fans. He disclosed that his role is a permanent one. Robert has returned not just for Aaron and John’s wedding. He was back for good and shared his excitement for reprising his role.
He shared that his comeback was due to the conversation with Danny. Ryan has been living in Brazil. Danny messaged him and asked how he would feel about coming back. He agreed, and soon the producers called him.
The Emmerdale actor reflected on his character and shared that Robert creates chaos, and he would be doing that at the wedding, as John isn’t right for Aaron. Though John thought that he would marry Aaron despite Nate and Aidan’s troubles, Robert interrupted them.
