Fred Reprised Dylan’s Role!
Leonard Di Caprio, Margot Robbie and Guy Pearce started out in soap operas. Many megastar have been a part of dramatic storylines in soaps. Similarly Fred Kettle is the next young actor to follow them after Emmerdale announced him as a permanent cast member in May. He plays the character of Dylan Penders in the soap.
Soap fans know that Dylan is a homeless teen who made a good bond with April during her time on the streets. However, later, Marlon framed Dylan for stealing ketamine and sent him to rehab. Fred Kettle told Ann Chadwick that it was his third time auditioning for a character in Emmerdale. He said that he got lucky.
The actor reprised his role after the soap viewers urged him to bring the character back. He will bring trouble for April. The soap star added that he grew up watching Coronation Street with his mother, but now he is on the team Emmerdale. He said he liked Mascon in Corrie as their characters are alike.
Fred Opens Up On His Character!
Fred shared that Dylan has been brought up differently, so he doesn’t know how to react in social situations. He added that soaps address the controversial issues to raise awareness, including sexual consent, child grooming, and addiction. He shared that by playing Dylan, he would be able to portray something that felt true. The director even went to the homeless shelters to feel how the homeless people feel. He said that playing the character is a challenge. Fred realised that it was time to release Dylan from himself.
Unlike Dylan, Fred had a stable upbringing in Bingley. His mother is a hairdresser, while his father is a maths teacher. He signed with Articulate Agency at the age of 13. Stacey Burrows set up this agency. Fred said that he started doing extra work, too. He thought to get himself signed up to go for actual auditions. Meanwhile, in May, the soap star finished a two-year college course in drama, stage and screen. Then he came back to Emmerdale. He even praised Amelia Flanagan, describing her as helpful and welcoming.
The actor even shot a short film, Poppy Day, before Emmerdale. He plays Maxine Peak’s son. It is directed by Justin Edgar. It is about war and remembrance.
