Emmerdale fans are talking about a new mistake in the show, and this time it is not about the story itself. Paddy Kirk’s upcoming court case has grabbed attention, but viewers have noticed something about the trial date that does not seem right.

Fans Notice Problem With Paddy’s Trial Date

The current storyline shows Paddy Kirk, played by Dominic Brunt, getting ready to face trial for perverting the course of justice. This all connects to the death of Ray Daniels.

Fans already know what really happened. On New Year’s Day, Bear Wolf killed Ray to stop him from killing Paddy and Dylan. After that, Paddy and Dylan moved Ray’s body to hide the truth. They did this to protect Bear, who had already gone through a lot after being kept as a slave by Ray and his mother, Celia Daniels.

Later, Paddy and Dylan decided to confess everything. This led to the court case that is now coming up. In a recent episode, Paddy’s wife Lisa gave him a letter and said, “Babe, I think it’s from the court.” Paddy opened it and said, “Ohh that’s sooner than I expected.” When Jacob asked what it was, Paddy told him, “I’ve got a date for the trial, 4th of May.”

Emmerdale Viewers Question The Court Date

Fans did not have a problem with Paddy going to court, but they did question the date. One viewer shared the scene on TikTok and pointed out that May 4 is a Bank Holiday Monday. Courts are usually closed on that day.

The fan wrote, “Come on, ITV and Emmerdale – do your research a bit better. Unless I’m missing something, courts are still not running on Bank Holiday Mondays… Did you notice this?” Many others agreed.

Another viewer said they enjoy watching soaps, but sometimes they make silly mistakes. Someone else said that even if the show is pre-recorded, the producers should know that May 4 is a bank holiday. One fan joked that soaps care more about drama than small details. Another said it feels like bank holidays do not exist in soap stories.

According to ergsy.com, courts in the UK do not open on public holidays. Their website explains that a court holiday means the courts are closed, often on national holidays like Christmas and Easter. They also say that the UK court system follows several public holidays during the year. On these days, court work does not happen. Some special legal holidays can affect court schedules.

Even with this confusion, actor Dominic Brunt has spoken about his future on the show. He said, “I think I’ve been so lucky for so long.” He also shared that if he ever had to leave, he would feel sad but grateful for everything. Let’s see what happens next.
