Rumors suggest he is the mysterious third individual involved in Will Taylor’s plan, and he has come back to take revenge on Kim. The dashing businessman Joe Tate was last seen on the ITV soap six years ago, and his return is yet to be announced on Christmas Eve. Ned Shares His Experience
Joe is the son of Christopher Tate and Rachel Hughes, so he is the step-grandson of Kim Tate. He appeared in Emmerdale in the mid-90s and was brought up by Zoe Tate after his parents’ death. In 2017, Ned Porteous took over Joe’s role and appeared in a storyline in which he faked his identity as Tom Waterhouse. Though he was only using Debbie for revenge, the two eventually hit it off for real.
Ned has once again reprised his role, and he can’t be more than happy to be back in the Dales. He even hints at the storyline and says that Joe Tate has a lot of unfinished business, and now feels like the right time for him to make a comeback. We have always seen Joe as a character of the darker side, and we can’t wait to see what’s at play here. The actor also hints at the storyline, saying that Joe has a reason to return and that the showdown at Home Farm is just the beginning.
Joe’s Evil Motives
Since his return, Joe has tried to take Will down by exposing him to Kim. Just on the day of their vow renewal, Joe returned unannounced. It seems like Will’s decision to step away from Kim’s revenge plan doesn’t sit well with Joe. He is now determined to cause trouble and exposes Will’s past schemes, stirring up chaos.
Joe wastes no time planting doubts in Kim’s mind about Will. He reveals Will’s old revenge plans and even makes up a lie about Will involving her son, Jamie. Eventually, Joe claims he and Peter are testing Will’s honesty, but he switches gears when that doesn’t seem to work. Playing on Kim’s emotions, he insists that family means everything to him. Kim, stunned by Joe’s words, decides to confront Will. Will she be able to forgive him?
