John Sugden found out that Tracy and Cain Dingle are determined to find out who killed Nate Robinson in the village. Meanwhile, John Sugden didn’t want to confess to killing Nate, so he came up with an idea to divert the attention of the police. Owen, who drugged Robert Sugden, called at the surgery to say he wasn’t feeling well. John went to Owen’s house.
The medic found out that Owen was unconscious. He was struggling with drink and drugs. An idea came to John, and instead of calling an ambulance, he just let him die. The clever medic framed Owen for Nate Robinson’s murder. He created a backstory by writing a note in Owen’s laptop, which claims that he murdered Cain’s son. In Monday’s episode, Liam visited Owen’s house. When he didn’t open the door, Liam called the police.

They discovered that Owen was no more and found a confession letter in which he mentioned that he killed Nate during an altercation. DS Walsh informed Cain and Tracy about this. Then John went to see Cain with the hope that there would be improvement in him after the news about Owen. John got frustrated seeing Cain, who was in emotional turmoil. Then the mechanic went to see Liam Cavanagh to find out more about his son’s murderer.
He bombarded him with questions about Owen, but Liam didn’t tell him anything. Cain Dingle got furious. Later, Liam told John about his interaction with Cain and opened up about the effects of losing the child. John became guilty and realised that Owen’s confession wouldn’t let Cain get justice. Then John contacted the mental health helpline. But when the volunteer told him to call instead of message, he thought that it was risky.
