Lisa Riley is famous for her role as Mandy Dingle on Emmerdale. She is one of the most adored actors on the show. Interestingly, her off-screen personal life has also seen its topsy turvy phases, just like her reel life. In 2018, she went through some rounds of IVF along with her partner in hopes of getting pregnant.
However, things did not quite work out on that front. Lisa Riley opened up that she decided to stop treatment when she realised that her eggs “weren’t good enough.” She explained how her body was being pumped full of hormones to get my egg readings, and in the end, they weren’t good enough.
Apart from the fertility treatment, Lisa also underwent two skin removal surgeries in 2018 after losing 12 stones in weight. “It messes with your head and I just couldn’t do that to myself anymore. The past few months have been tough, and emotionally draining, and we just decided that enough was enough. I tried it, I gave it a go and it didn’t work,” she explained her decision.
Furthermore, the Emmerdale actress admitted that even though it was a “blow” to learn that she would never get pregnant, she still refused to be defined by it. She even decided not to go down the adoption route as it was not the right fit for her. “I wouldn’t be able to cope because I would wake up thinking they would always want to go back to their biological parents,” Lisa reasoned.
However, it is to be noted that her character, Mandy Dingle, has raised and loved Vinny- who is not her biological child in Emmerdale. Yet, she feels it is something she would not be able to pull off in real life. Vinny is actually Paul’s son – the man Mandy fell head over heels in love with. We really hope, Lisa finds all the happiness that she wants and deserves, even if it does not include a child, there is certainly more to life.
