Emmerdale star Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, has recently expressed her frustration with the latest online scams. This week, she took to Instagram to raise awareness among her fans not to fall for the financial tricks of using her pictures online. These types of scams are becoming way too common, and once celebrity pictures are used, the chances of falling prey to them get even higher.
Lisa’s Instagram Post
In the Instagram post, Lisa Riley shared one of the screenshots of Facebook adverts and wrote, “FAKE FAKE FAKE. I’ve had so many messages this week regarding this post!!! If they have placed my name with anything, it’s fake!!!! I’m surprised anyone ever believes anything anymore!! It’s not true, it’s not me, it’s faker than fake, and it keeps being fake!!!”
She also requested her fans, saying, “Please block and report #block #fake #untrue #fakepost #delete makes me so angry!!!!” To this, fans instantly poured their love and encouragement and said, “Ridiculously incredible just how you are!!!!!! I met you at 11 years old and have always loved you since. Mandy Dingle would smash their faces in lol xx.” Another added, “I don’t believe this. Why can’t they leave you alone. Do you have a new account or shall I keep this one ?”
This Isn’t the First Time
This isn’t the first time Lisa has taken such an initiative regarding scams. Last year, she shared how she received “hundreds of messages” almost every day from fans asking if she needed financial aid or if she promoted diet pills. She added, “My social media is all fun and positive. Common sense should REALLY kick in by now; these pages JUST WANT YOUR MONEY!!! I am not….will not…..EVER BE PART OF IT!!! Don’t click on ANYTHING on these pages!!!”
We can’t thank Lisa enough for this initiative. There are many actors who earn fame, but there are only a handful who use this fame to do some good. Just as we love our Mandy on Emmerdale, it’s the same for Lisa off-screen. We wish her all the best in the future.
