Actor Reveals Shocking Secrets About His Character’s Arrival
John Sugden made his big entry, but not everyone was thrilled. Actor Oliver Farnworth has hinted that John isn’t trying to win anyone over. This new Sugden will come as a surprise. Viewers must know that he’s the result of a secret romance between his mother, Barbara, and Jack Sugden from the ’80s.
As he arrives, Victoria Sugden is excited, but John has already started making enemies. In an interview, Oliver Farnworth described John’s character as someone who doesn’t consider himself superior to Dales or its people but remains completely detached. He mentioned that John wouldn’t hesitate to express his opinions openly.
The soap star said, “‘He’s not trying to make friends. He’s not out to win people over.” There will be moments when the newcomer’s directness may not sit well with others, but he remains indifferent. He views his time in the village as just a temporary stop before moving on to his next.
Oliver also admitted that even weeks after filming, he is still discovering new aspects of the character. He explains that John is very much a ‘lone wolf.’ Over the years, he has built up walls around himself as a form of self-preservation. According to the star, John doesn’t like people getting close to him.
The new arrival is very ‘self-sufficient.’ He has been living off-grid in his van and does not rely on anyone, not even his family.
