Celia is a major part of the drug-dealing business. She and Ray have trapped Dylan to deal drugs. To clear more debt, Ray forced April to do higher-paying jobs. It involved interacting with older males who were sexually attracted to her. In the October episode, a client named Tim told April to drink alcohol and use cocaine. When he told her to do sexual activities, she escaped and ran home. This episode led to 62 Ofcom complaints.
At the start of this month, there were 60 more complaints. This is because another client named Callum attempted to rape April. Meanwhile, last week, 105 audience members contacted Ofcom to file a complaint about the scenes involving Celia and Ray. It did not involve April. A standalone episode showed what happened to Bear when he left the village in the summer.
Harrowing Scenes Trouble Viewers!
The soap followers learned that Bear is a part of Ray and Celia’s business. Ray promised him a place to stay in exchange for work on the farm. He was taken to Celia’s farm, and the drug dealers told him to live with other vulnerable adults. Ray has manipulated Bear, making him believe that he will have to live like this. Thus, the harrowing scenes led viewers to contact Ofcom.
Meanwhile, Joshua Richards, who plays Bear Wolf, opened up about the scenes. He said that there is a lot more to come. He added that it’s important for the soap to show the plot. Joshua said that the subject matter is important. They are fortunate to involve the Salvation Army in it. They were lucky to talk to someone who has experienced modern slavery.
