Emmerdale is gearing up for some emotional scenes ahead as Zak Dingle’s funeral takes place. The Dingle family is understandably hard hit by the heartbreaking loss. While most of the clan will come together to give the beloved Zak a fitting tribute, some younger members of the family will miss the do.
Previously, we reported that Debbie Dingle won’t be attending Zak’s funeral on Emmerdale. In a recent episode, Moira Dingle informed her son Matty that Debbie grew very close to Zak in recent months and will not be able to face the funeral. Thus, she has decided to give it a miss and remember Zak through the memories they built while living together.
Now, the episode that streamed on ITVX on Thursday has offered some updates about Samson Dingle. Earlier, in August, the troubled teen was given four years in prison for his involvement in a violent robbery, attack on his former friend Josh Cope. In the episode, Sam told his wife that he would be calling the prison and have someone tell Samson about Zak’s passing.
However, Lydia Dingle was not very happy with the idea. She felt it wouldn’t be great to let a stranger tell Samson about his grandfather’s death. But Sam insisted that it was the fastest way to get the news to Samson. The Thursday episode also laid the groundwork for the teenager missing the funeral.

When Kim Tate noticed Lydia recording videos of the karaoke during the family gathering, she asked her why she was filming. “It’s for Samson. He’s not here to say his goodbyes, is he?” Lydia answered. Sam then added that he was not able to get a day release for Samson to come and attend the funeral.
Even though the younger Dingle family members won’t be present to bid Zak Dingle goodbye, the rest of the family will come together to celebrate his beautiful life. So, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Emmerdale updates on the upcoming episodes.
