Back in January, rumours swirled about Malandra Burrows’s return in her character, Kathy Glover. Viewers must recall how Kathy was a beloved character back in the day. Even though fans have been eagerly awaiting her comeback, could this be more than just wishful thinking?
Some fans believe it’s less likely now than before. These things can take ages to plan, sometimes over a year. In a soap quiz last year, the actress did mention that she’d be open to the idea of returning. While this gave fans hope, they believe that the show’s current state might not be the best for her return.
Kathy, indeed, was a fantastic character back in the day, but fitting her into the modern-day village might be tricky. The village has changed a lot, and most characters she interacted with are no longer around. The only familiar faces left would be Cain, who was a nasty teenager during her time, and Eric Pollard.

Their friendship fell apart over Kim’s affair with Neil Kincaid, but they rebuilt it until Kathy betrayed Kim during her divorce from Chris.
The final straw was Kim’s affair with David Glover, who Kathy was seeing. They never reunited after that. Seeing them together again would give fans nostalgia for confrontational scenes from old times. Talking about rivalry, Eric Pollard had a massive vendetta against her.
However, other characters from her time, like Frank, Chris, Zoe, and Rachel, are all gone. Joe Tate’s presence would have made a difference, but he’s not around either. Additionally, rumours regarding a return after 20 years have been circulating on forums like Digital Spy.
Unfortunately, it turned out to be Chrissie Watts from EastEnders, not Kathy, which disappointed many Dales fans. So, while the possibility of the legend’s return remains uncertain, fans’ hope and excitement continue to grow.
