Emmerdale is preparing for one of its most dramatic storylines yet, with a limo crash set to endanger several characters. Meanwhile, Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, has admitted that she is keeping her agent on standby—just in case her character doesn’t make it. Speaking about the uncertainty surrounding the crash, she has finally opened up.

Lisa commented, “Whenever a stunt involves a death, I will always be on standby to phone my agent. [in case] it means I am going to need to get a new job!” However, she is not the only one feeling uneasy ahead of the stunt. Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle, also shares his concerns about how big these stunts can leave things changed.
Jeff commented, “When you hear that they’re doing stunts, you instantly think, ‘Somebody’s going to die, somebody’s going to cop it here.’ Or people being hospitalised, that’s what happens when you do sequences like this.”
The upcoming crash will involve 17 characters across two limousines. In one car, Mandy is joined by Amy, Tracy, Vanessa, Suzy, Chas, Leyla, and Charity. The other vehicle carries Cain, Caleb, Sam, Paddy, Mackenzie, Liam, Bear and Matty. With so many characters involved, it’s confirmed that at least one of them is going to lose their life.
Behind The Scenes
Behind the scenes, the production team put much effort into bringing the scenes to life. The crash itself was filmed over two weeks, with night shoots stretching into the early hours. A crew of 90 worked on the stunt, which included safety drivers, medics, and special effects experts.
The frozen lake where the crash occurred wasn’t even real. It was created using a wax space surface to mimic the ice. The team also uses a high lift platform, a wire rig, and camera cranes to capture the limo’s plunge into the water.
Lisa described the experience as one of the biggest stunts she has ever filmed and referred to it as “Emmerdale does the Titanic.” However, who dies in this stunt is still under wraps, and only the upcoming Emmerdale spoilers can reveal the rest.
