Alicya Eto’s Emotional Confessions
Actress Alicya Eyo, who portrayed Ruby Haswell, revealed that after leaving the ITV soap, she had to go to rehab for alcoholism. She confessed that she was at her lowest and lost everything. But during her time in rehab, she finally figured out why she was on that destructive path, and it helped her to do better.
In an episode of the Soap from the Box podcast back in 2021, the soap star said, “I ended up losing everything, including myself.” This led her to seek help in rehab. She also mentioned that the first Coronavirus lockdown was manageable for her, but she struggled significantly during a subsequent lockdown later in the year.
She expressed gratitude for the support of her mother, brother, and partner, who helped her get through the difficult period. Alicya admitted, “I’ve really, really suffered.” She constantly feared returning to her previous struggles. Talking about her Dales character, she explained that she was killed in August 2015.
Viewers must remember the horrific helicopter crash in the village hall. Reflecting on her final scenes, she mentioned that playing Ruby’s death was challenging and emotional. However, she felt fortunate to have had a great director and the support of Laura Norton and Liam Fox during filming.
The ITV star added, “I couldn’t have wished for it to be any better.” But her comeback story is a true testament to strength and determination. For more updates on Emmerdale, keep checking Soap Opera Daily! We hope Alicya is now living a happy and healthy life!
