ITV viewers, especially Emmerdale fans, were in for a huge surprise when they tuned into a recent episode of the channel’s popular series – Grantchester. Recently, actor Tom Brittney quit his role as vicar Will Davenport on the series. And reports revealed that fans could expect to see a new face instead of Tom’s. Viewers tuned into the show excited to see the new vicar who was to replace Will.
However, the fans were treated to a double surprise when the episode aired. True to the reports, Rishi Nair appeared on the show as Reverend Alphy Kotteram. He also happens to be the series’ new lead. But the excitement didn’t end there. Many fans cheered when a familiar face from Emmerdale showed up in Grantchester. It was none other than Ned Porteous. The actor who is famous as Joe Tate on the soap, unexpectedly appeared alongside DI Geordie Keating, portrayed by actor Robson Green.
Ned’s New Guest Role
In the episode, Ned appeared in the role of Harvey who was convinced his father had been murdered. However, the evidence at hand suggested the death was suicide. Fan couldn’t keep calm once they saw Ned on Grantchester. Many of them immediately hopped on to their social media accounts to express their excitement over the unexpected treat. “I recognise the actor playing Harvey in #Grantchester as he’s also in #Emmerdale as Joe Tate!” A fan wrote on X.
Meanwhile, another proposed that Ned’s guest stint on Grantchester must have been filmed before he started filming his return on Emmerdale. Speaking of the soap. Ned recently returned to Dales as Joe Tate, after a gap of nearly 6 years. His return was very well received by the fans. He is currently making quite a wave with his mysterious intentions towards Kim Tate. His storyline with Dawn Fletcher is also receiving a lot of positive feedback. But are his intentions good for Will’s daughter?
