Emmerdale Star Charley Webb’s Next Move
Charley is known for playing Debbie Dingle for many years on the soap. However, after leaving the soap, she has kept herself busy. Her character exited the village by moving to Scotland. And she returned for a short stint. Later, it was explained that Debbie had quietly moved to Australia after marrying Chris.
And this update was a clear hint that she isnt returning soon on-screen. Outside the show, Webb has been jumping from one crime drama to another. She has also worked on Better, The Long Shadow, McDonald & Dodds and Ellis. It’s like she has been exploring TV work without sticking to a single type. Even now, she is going somewhere different. The actress has taken up theatre now.
Her next project is The Ladies Football Club, written by Stefano Massini. The story is set against the background of World War I. It’s when women took roles and work that had opened during labour shortages.
And when more women got into factories and other jobs. Some of them got an unexpected interest in football. And this led to the rise of women’s teams during that time. In the play, Webb plays Abigail.
About The Play And Cast
Elsewhere, she will be performing with Jessica Baglow from Gentleman Jack, Ellie Leach from Coronation Street and Cara Theobold from Downton Abbey. Webb has had an opportunity to work with actors from various backgrounds.
Elsewhere, the production includes more performers, such as Krupa Pattani from Mr Bates vs The Post Office. And, Lesley Hart from Shetland and Clair Norris from EastEnders.
Webb said the cast and the creative team have been working with focus. It’s because they want to bring out the history of these women who played football before it became what it is today.
