Actress Daisy Campbell has played Amelia Spencer for 13 Long years on Emmerdale. Thus, it comes as a shock that the makers have decided to write off the character. In fact, the actress herself is just as shocked by the decision as we are. However, sometimes some tough decisions have to be made for the sake of the progression of certain storylines.
“It wasn’t my choice to leave Emmerdale and it was a shock at first. Being in Emmerdale is all I have ever known,” Daisy Campbell recently told Digital Spy. Furthermore, she added that she had spent the whole of her childhood growing up in the soap and it felt daunting. But upon reflecting further Daisy admitted that she does understand why the decision had to be made.
The Amelia Spencer star explained that she isn’t a Dingle and that her father has left. Even her baby daddy, Samson, is off-screen. Simply put, she does not have any family on the soap anymore, and it is hard to keep her involved in any important storylines. “There is nowhere to take Amelia and I understand that. I feel incredibly lucky to have been in the soap for 13 years,” she stated.
Currently, on the soap, Amelia is romantically involved with the abusive Tom King. Belle and many other Dales residents are trying to convince her to see Tom for who he is, but she just refuses to. However, the veil has started to slip, and in the upcoming episodes, Amelia will experience firsthand what a monster Tom is.

Next week, Tom shows up bloodied and claims that he has been attacked. Later, he becomes rattled when some characters throw an effigy that looks like him, into the fire. Like insult to injury, Nicola King refuses to let her kids stay in the same house as Tom. Everything combined leaves Tom really livid and he takes out his anger on Amelia Spencer.
