Gemma Oaten Takes ‘Herself’ Out
Gemma Oaten, known for playing Rachel Breckle, excitedly shared on Instagram about the recent date she went to after being single for five years. And guess what? It went amazing! The 40-year-old soap star posted a mirror selfie in a stunning green dress and opened up about her romantic journey.
She captioned, “I’ve been single five years now….” She added, “This week I had the best date ever! With MYSELF.” The soap star explained that growing up, she had spent many years isolated in eating disorder units, hospitals, and psychiatric units, which she felt did her more harm than good.
After finding her path to recovery away from these institutions, she developed a genuine fear of being alone and needed constant company. She feared isolation and being left alone with her thoughts without the comfort of seeing family or friends. The star concluded her post by reflecting on the power of connection, even in silence.
She expressed, “Maybe one day I’ll find true love with someone else. Maybe I won’t. Either way…I like falling in love with me again. Invest in loving yourself. You matter.” Also, let us tell you that outside of her acting career, the ITV actress has been raising awareness for eating disorders, inspired by her own struggle with anorexia and bulimia.
