Ariana Grande is a superfan! The Wicked actress was spotted enjoying an intimate performance by her boyfriend, Ethan Slater. The singer recently began his weeklong residency at Café Carlyle in New York. An onlooker revealed that Ari laughed at Ethan’s jokes between songs and cheered for him after each performance. Slater melted hearts by performing hits from Broadway shows like Fiddler on the Roof and Pippin.
Moreover, the Spamalot star even belted out tunes of Bob Dylan songs. Ariana’s beau did two acoustic covers from his SpongeBob SquarePants musical and referenced his “big year of change” between songs. Additionally, another source praised Ethan, “He’s extremely talented.” Let us tell you that the singer is starring in the big screen version of Wicked as Boq. The flick will hit the screen on November 27.
Back to the performance, the source recounted Slater stole a glance at Grande when singing about being “lucky to be in love.” How ADORABLE is that right? The insider continued, “He did talk about Wicked, and at one point he acted like he was going to cover “Defying Gravity.” It made the crowd hopeful that Grande would join him on stage. However, Ethan switched to “If I Only Had a Heart” from The Wizard of Oz, making everyone laugh.
The Break Free singer has reportedly had a great time with her close-knit group of pals. She was just smiling at everyone and enjoying dinner in a banquette at the back. “It was a very intimate crowd, mostly full of theater fans. Nobody was bothering her.” The US Sun reported that the founder of R.E.M. Beauty remained unnoticed throughout Ethan’s performance. Then, everyone caught her slaying in a plunging red puff-sleeve dress when the lights came back on.
An eyewitness revealed, “Everyone got up to either leave or wait to say hi to Ethan, who was mingling with guests after.” Surprisingly, Grande and Slater did not interact after the show because she did not want to steal the spotlight. The source added, “She was there just to support him.” How thoughtful of Ari! Grande and Slater hit it off after meeting on the set of Wicked. The duo began dating last July and were getting serious.
“Ariana is serious with Ethan,” the insider said. “She loves being with him.” Talking about their love story, Grande remained a regular at Slater’s Spamalot shows. Ethan portrayed The Historian/Prince Herbert in the Broadway musical. The source noted how Ariana and Ethan love to support each other in their work. “When she’s done with work, Ariana loves going to the theater when she can,” they added.
