Craig’s Shocking End Leaves Fans Stunned
Earlier this year, Coronation Street viewers watched in horror as PC Craig Tinker met a violent end. While on duty, he was attacked by Mick Michaelis, played by Joe Layton, who struck him over the head with a baseball bat. Craig was rushed to hospital, but his condition quickly worsened. Despite medical efforts, CPR failed, and he was tragically pronounced dead.
Colson later shared that he’d known since autumn that his time on the show would end in 2025. Reflecting on his 14-year journey, he said he felt lucky to grow up “in, on and around” the famous street and had “loved every single second.” Since leaving the soap, Colson’s remained busy, appeared on Celebrity Mastermind, guest-hosted This Morning, and recently, stepped into the quiz show hot seat.

Speaking on his On The Sofa podcast with co-stars Ben Price and Jack P. Shepherd, Colson confessed to a hilarious slip-up while filming The Weakest Link. During the picture round, host Romesh Ranganathan showed him a tennis star and asked, who’s the player named after a planet?
Colson, with full confidence, answered “Jupiter Williams.” He now knows the answer was, of course, Venus Williams but at the time, he said he completely “disgraced” himself and expected the moment might “go viral.” Thankfully, he wasn’t the first celeb to be voted off, so there’s that small win to soften the blow.
Game show slip-ups aside, Colson’s clearly enjoying his time beyond the cobbles. He’s embracing new challenges, laughing at himself, and showing fans a more playful side they rarely saw from straight-laced Craig.
