If you’ve been wondering whether a Kym Marsh might return to Coronation Street, you’re not alone. Fans felt hopeful after a recent exit from another major show. However, to our surprise, she’s headed somewhere completely different.
Her Exit from Waterloo Road Got People Talking
Earlier this year, Kym Marsh finished her time on Waterloo Road, where she played Nicky Walters. Her character resonated with viewers by addressing issues like grief and financial struggles while trying to keep her family together. When Kym left the show, fans immediately began speculating about her next move.
Naturally, Corrie fans started talking about a possible Michelle Connor return. After all, Kym played Michelle for over 13 years, from 2006 to 2019, and was part of some major storylines. Remember when Michelle learned her baby had been swapped at birth? Or the heartbreaking moments when she lost her son Ruairi after going into early labor? Since leaving Corrie, Kym has stayed busy with everything from Strictly Come Dancing to theater shows.
Kym Shares What She’s Really Doing Next
So, is Michelle Connor coming back? Not as of now. Kym’s next role isn’t on the small screen; it’s back on stage. She just announced she’ll be playing Hedy in the new UK and Ireland stage tour of Single White Female, starting in January 2026. The actress shared the news on Instagram, unable to hide her excitement.
She recalled being completely hooked when she first saw the film in theaters and now can’t wait to bring it to life for audiences on stage. She also noted that fans can find tour dates, venues, and ticket details in her bio, and playfully ended with: “Watch out for the stilettos!” The post quickly filled with support from fellow Corrie stars, with Claire Sweeney writing, “Well done darling,” and Helen Flanagan adding, “Can’t wait to watch you.”
So, No Return to Coronation Street Yet?
As exciting as this news is, it means a return to Coronation Street isn’t in the plans, at least for now. With the Single White Female tour set to run from early 2026, Kym will be busy with rehearsals and shows. Still, in soap land, you can never say never.
Michelle was such a significant part of Corrie for so long that it’s easy to imagine her walking back into the Rovers one day. But for now, Kym’s focused on the theater world again, and she sounds thrilled to be taking on such a dark and dramatic role. And knowing Kym, she’s sure to excel.
