EastEnders Icon Cheryl Fergison has opened up about her struggles of finding fresh acting work just to earn enough. Viewers of the BBC programme know that the actress who portrayed the role of Heather Trott was axed from the soap twelve years ago. Cheryl Fergison, best known for her role as Heather Trott on EastEnders, took to Twitter and spoke about her struggles of finding new work and only earning enough to keep the roof over her head. This news comes just days after the soap star’s upcoming show, Lytham, Lancashire, was scrapped due to unforeseen circumstances. In the clip she shared on X, Fergison reflected on her ‘minus’ bank balance figures and juggling jobs.
The actress said, “I’ve been out of EastEnders for around 13 years. I’ve done jobs in between, I was in panto this year, but jobs aren’t continuous. It’s not kind of like being in a soap all the time.” The BBC One star also spoke about how some people don’t understand that they’re like everyone else and have to pay bills and rest. She also shed light on how on some days it’s all about keeping a roof over your head.

Admitting that many actors can’t purely rely on on-screen gigs, she continued: “It’s not a downgrade, it’s not terrible, it’s just life.” We recently reported that Cheryl had bagged a brand new acting role after struggling to get new roles after her time in Walford. The amazing actress will feature in this year’s pantomime production of Cinderella at The Cresset Theatre.
Furthermore, She will be taking over the part as the Fairy Godmother during the festive season from December 14 to 31. The Walford icon had to take singing lessons on Zoom to get by her regular expenses. She also dabbled in helping aspiring actors kick off their careers after bidding goodbye to BBC soap.
