Long-time viewers know that Mick died after he tried to rescue the love of his life, Linda, from the ocean. This all happened after a pregnant Janine Butcher, who had just married Mick, drove them into deep waters. Honouring Linda’s request, he saved Janine and the unborn child first before going back to look for his sweetheart. But, poor Mick was unaware that Linda had already safely made it to shore. His body was never recovered. Hence, EastEnders fans hoped that some day, he would come back.
If Mick returns, he would have followed the footsteps of Neighbours legend Harold Bishop who vanished at the sea and then made his return to the Aussie soap five years later. Along with this, we know how soap operas work: people die and come back very easily, so it will not be a miracle if Danny’s character actually makes a return. While speaking of his possible return, the star had some bad news regarding Mick’s future.
He told Heatworld, ‘He’s dead, Look, I take it as a compliment that people want me to go back. Who knows? If there’s no closure there, then maybe I would come back for a dream sequence. I don’t think Mick could just rock up covered in seaweed! I think if they did it right, with the 40th anniversary coming up, if they came up with an idea of maybe Linda being drunk or hallucinating, then I would come back and do some scenes with her.”
The actor also talked about his misses Kellie (Linda Carter), and he thinks this way, people will stop asking him about his comeback. As hard as it is to hear that Mick is dead and might never return, fans still have hope for his return. We know how Kathy Beale and Cindy Beale made their way back to Walford, so Danny should never say never. For more updates & news on EastEnders, keep following Soap Opera Daily!
