Even though it started as a romance last year quickly turned into a disturbing pattern of control and fear, leaving viewers increasingly convinced the story has an endgame and it may not involve Todd surviving it. Theo has psychologically tormented Todd for months, gradually isolating him and tightening his control.
The abuse has repeatedly crossed into violence, forcing Todd to secretly install hidden surveillance equipment in the flat just to document what his partner was doing to him.
The situation already turned deadly once when Theo caused the death of Todd’s ex-boyfriend and best friend, Billy Mayhew, in a vehicle pile-up. Since then, Theo has gained control of Todd’s finances, leaving him dependent on him; a move fans believe signals a classic soap build-up toward a final tragedy.
Recent Episode Leaves Viewers Convinced the End is Near
The February 11 episode pushed viewers over the edge. Theo had gone to Doncaster to visit his parents and deliberately left Todd with only £10, cutting him off completely. When he returned home unannounced, the abuse escalated almost immediately.
Theo mocked Todd’s weight and forced him to run despite him already being exhausted from exercising earlier that morning. Afterwards, when Todd asked for a bath, Theo made it clear he wanted sex.
Todd refused, but Theo manipulated the situation until Todd felt he had no choice and later appeared injured with bruising on his neck. The scenes left fans devastated and certain the story is heading toward an exit. One viewer admitted they felt sick watching and asked when it would finally stop, while another predicted Theo would kill Todd. Others agreed instantly, with one writing “100%” and another posting a distressed “Oh Todd!”
James Cartwright has described Theo as deeply dangerous, saying at best he is narcissistic and at worst sociopathic. He explained Coronation Street has shown everything from murders to explosions over the years, but he believes this storyline explores something new.
